How everything began
I was always building something at home. Sometimes I required any kind of enclosures or boxes. For bigger parts a wood is a good source, but it’s really hard to make a nice looking small ones.
This gap was meant to be filled by a 3D printer.
Choosing one
3D printing is nothing new anymore. You can find a printer already at the regular store. So the decision which one to pick is pretty hard. There are a lot of different cheap printer overseas. There are also a lot of existing established brands.
If you are not very familiar with this area, it’s coming down to two main factors. A price and a part build volume. I will not dive deep into all the thoughts and reconciliations. I ended up with the original Prusa i3 MK2 kit and I don’t regret this decision by now.
Make it work
I had to wait 9 weeks to get it and finally it came before Christmas. A perfect time to get familiar with
all that stuff and build the kit together.

With a great manual and detailed live build by Thomas Sanladerer the printer was ready to print pretty fast.
